it appears to be earthen life...

Thanksgiving break is always a fantastic weekend...always. Did I get to go on a spontaneous hunt for coffee with my mum and sister? Yes! Did I get to take some photos of the wild yonder outside me door? Yeah! Any sushi like I prayed for? No...sadly. But there's always next weekend.

(Black Old Navy turtleneck, Forever 21 chain necklace, Report leopard sunglasses
vintage belt, goofy smile - now that's all mine)

(The view outside me' doorstep)

And YES that's a poster of Steve Vai to my right...(well..your left.) You know, stage left. That sort of thing.

So as you can see by my photos, I attempted to get some fresh air this weekend. Versus sitting at home being hopelessly addicted to Gingerbread tea and fashiontoast and even Style Rookie..(both fantastic, by the way...grab some tea and give em' a test drive.)

This next weekend I'll probably be making a trek up to the ol' college for some textbook buy-back. What will that entail? Ehhhh?? Well, I'm really thinking, (and hoping-praying-wishing!) for a trip to some Spokane antique stores. Maybe on Boon St., or is it Madison?? Erm...not that this babble means anything, but I know it's next to the resturant that sports a Hollywood-gangster theme, Charley's. Yes! I remembered! Charley's!

Oh yeah...and maybe I'll get a new NYLON magazine. One can only wish.

tickety-tockety...

This is a weird week...
Monday: Anthropology100 final,
Tuesday: Economics102 lab and Class Meeting,
Wednesday: Anniversary with Nick(!) whoooOOoo! Yeah 20 months! Ha - but who's counting, not I...
Thursday: Reserve Kitchen, and another Meeting, and...*gasp - Algebra test. Hot damn I almsot forgot that one...
Friday: Political Science paper due and Class Fundraiser Dinner.

Hmmm...so, what does that mean? This is a scheduled post! Yee-haw!

Here's what I'm really talking about:

With winter coming, I get sooo jazzed to simply fill a huge mug with some strong coffee, grab a magazine, (or 10), and spread out on the couch. I've been filling notebooks with mag clippings, doodles, and my random thoughts for a few good years now. Here are my fave from this weekend:

Picture #1) Boots are comforting...and that's no lie. There's just something very nice about knowing that a great pair of bootsies will keep your footsies dry, will be eternally comfy, and will be bangin' with nearly any outfit. That's the facts, man.

Picture #2) The Winter 2009 Alloy catalog had the coolest shirts. The cut, the colors - all very cool and drool-worthy. I likey...

Picture #3) More neat outfits from the Alloy mag. LOVE the gold wrap-skirt on the right side! I would definitely rock that at a party...who am I kidding...I would even wear that thang to get groceries or walk the dog...amazing.

Ohhh gosh.. Weird coincidence. I think I see a NEW Alloy catalog sitting on the couch....excellent.

departure time...

What would my DREAM DESTINATION be??....I've been thinking about that alot - especially since my trip to Spokane's International Airport. (I had no idea it even existed in such granditude! It's goregous...and it's got a whole mini-mart DEVOTED to magazines. With a coffee shop right next door. Dang - talk about  happy happy neighbors. Coffee, magazine, airport-pamphlets to look at...good times.)

Nick and I drove up to the airport to pick up his sister. She got to brag and ha-ha-ha about her time in Arizona..yeah. Arizona. Someplace that still has SUN and WARMTH. Yes - she got to wear a tanktop in late November. So jealous. (Although I would definitely miss scarf, cardigan, and boot-season.)

This may seem like a weird observation, but the lighting in the airport was amazing. It seemed to be constantly yelling, "HEY! You! With the camera! And the face! Take a picture in my dazzling flourescent rays, like, NOW!"

That's what I heard. Nick was the photog for me, I was the one getting stuck in the elevator.

(Vintage red bag, skeleton key necklace by me, Dear button-up, Wet Seal sweatervest, big ol' belt stolen from my Dad, ultra-dark skinnies, Steve Madden boots.)

(I am so afraid of stupid escalators...what happened to stairs? Plain stairs?)

I've just recently decided...my first knitting project: a sweatervest. Bring it on.

the business of things...

These clothes make me want to launch into the business world - pronto. Cinched belts over fine tops. Ahhhhmazing pencil skirts. Blazers. Stompy heels. All of them scream: "this is MY conference room, and I will dress as I PLEASE. Now bow down to my extremely well-cut pantsuit and matching handbag...and take notes."

DKNY SPRING 2010
I think 9 am marks the best part of today: Macy's Parade. There's no way around it - it just rocks. I've always been really addicted to watching the parade...(well...addicted to my mom's 7-up Salad too), but mostly the parade.

Went shopping last night. If Wal-Mart and the grocery were crazy last night, I can't imagine what they're like on Black Friday...I've always wanted to find out. I just might this year - wish me luck!

(Old Navy denim jacket, Xhilaration jersey dress - used to be a super-flouncy tulip skirt, but I shortened it up after the 14th time of getting it caught in my pickup's door. Converse=Amazing. Marc Red Eko bag, Forever 21 layered necklace, I loved this piece because it reminds me of a Chanel bag.)
I looooove any food thats Chinese or Japanese inspired. Yakisoba? Brillant. Stir-fry of all varieties? Genius. Sushi? The bomb. And for some reason, I really have a thing for water chestnuts. In all of these photos I'm holding my favorite purchase, a Peach Mango Tofu pack....gahhhh my weakness....

Would it be wrong to just stuff essentials in a great clutch, throw on a fancy-shmancy outfit and head out to sushi on Thanksgiving? That's all I really need on a good day like today. I know the whole turkey-potatoes-gravy-pie, (eww gravy pie?),  is totally tradition...but I'm thinking that may be my new tradition. Most people just frown and do that nose-wrinkly-squinty-gaggy face when sushi is mentioned. Someday, I can see it now, I'll be sitting in the sushi resturant, (RAW, in Spokane is my favorite), I'll be unable to move, walk, or button up my skinny jeans from the extreme cuisine intake. Simply be able to ask for more wasabi. ...Maybe next Thanksgiving....

Disclaimer: So sorry about the meat-market background...that's ironic: I'm a definite vegetarian. What was I even doing there? :)

so UN-wintry...

All this snow really does get me in the Christmas mood...you know; I've got the radio on the 'Christmas Carols' station, got the multi-colored lights on in my room. I even keep pulling out the Christmas decorations...one at a time, on the sly. That's right! I'm like a little celebratory Christmas-spy! Mwaahahaaa! Yes!

It's all truly annoying to my parents, (they refuse to accept winter until we can't open the door past the snow-level), but I couldn't be happier! Is that wrong? Naww...I still do the 'Happy Snow-Dance.'

Anyways - I oft' experience an anti-winter phase. "BAM! KAZOW! WHOOPEE!" Goes through my head. "Break out the bright colors! Man the battlestations with the girliest prints, the gauziest fabrics, the most UN-WINTRY stuff available!" "Do I have a chance of freezing and catching the worst cold eva'?? Yeah?? Then right on!" *Fist-pump!*

I think I'm using that tricky reverse psychology on myself...that's possible, isn't it?

(Dawn Garden Scoopneck, $39.95, and California Corset dress, $99.95 - Anthropologie.com. Plaid Tickled Pink Scarf, $3.50 and California Fuschia Nail Polish, $2.50 - Forever21.com. Ahhh! Staratata 140 suede platforms - Christian Louboutin, $995 - ShopStyle.com.

long car ride...

Ya ya ya! Dance-dance! It snowed! It snowed! Break out the parka! Break out the parka!

As you can see, I'm quite obnoxious about snow. I LOVE it. And it loves me. My family probably wishes they could lock me outside during the cold, cold nights...but I will still celebrate. Forever.

As for celebrating, yesterday was my good ol' pappy's birthday. You know what that means?...Cheddar biscuits, of course. You know what THAT means? Red Lobster, duh! Who DOESN'T like those biscuit things...seriously.

So the fam got all dolled up and tripped out with the grandparents for a night on the town. Happy Birthday, Señor!

Claire's headband, always reminds me of little black oil bubbles..., grey Merona cardigan,  black Bubblegum skinny jeans, Lola hoop earrings, free belt - no, literally, I got it free wish a pair of shorts [SCORE!], red Value Village bag $2.99, striped tunic.

While I'm still celebrating, I just want to point out; "LOOK! My hair is actually straight!" It was a feat, and I'm pretty sure that my hair reached a limit as to how much product it can contain, but it was worth it. MWAHAAA! Take that, you curly, unruly, maternal genes! I own you! Celebratory coffee time...

Friday, November 20

tonight's gonna be a goooood night...(in fergie-voice..) kinda.

"The play is today...the play is today...the play is today." Those have been the only four words drifting through my head ever since the moment I woke up...at 3 am this morning. I've got that age-old fear of tripping horridly across the stage, even though I'll only be doing makeup, costumes, and turning lights on and off at the right times.

I prefer to call myself the 'make-upper-costumer-light on/off girl"...it's catchy, right? Well...it's going to go well...it has to go well...it will go well.

This was the first time I'd organized costumes, and lemme' tell ya, I'd LOVE to keep this excuse to go vintage-shopping every single weekend. (And possibly sneak away for the latter half of a school day? Eh? Any skippers in there with me? Yeahhhh...that's what I thought.) Numerous trips to Value Village, the Hope Center, and the thrift shops in Palouse (an oddly-named town), produced some of our 50's-inspired production. The 50's were pretty bomb...I must admit. What I wouldn't give to have a little cardigan wrapped around my shoulders right now....

(The 21st birthday cake...strawberrrrry filling. Me teaching the drama crew the hand jive - I've seen GREASE a thousand times and have the standard dance moves to back it up! :D yeah! Some white choc. macadamia nut cookies Nick made, I was pretty impressed. Now when is he gonna make some pie?...)

Wednesday, November 18

the way you pound those keys...piano keys, of course...

I love the kooky effects the photo-editing biz applies. Psychadelic shoes...neat. :]. My sister's 21st birthday bash was just last week: November 11...(lucky dog, NEVER has school on her birthday....ugh.) I was still kinda bored. Could I have gone outside for some invigorating fresh air and some true nature-experiences?? Yeah - ....yet I'm still here blogging and getting some inside-the-freezing-house-experiences. I shall definitely be a Chloe-sicle soon. But don't trouble yourself, I'll try to shoot off a flare in the night sky if my fingers freeze themselves to the keyboard. Whoa...did I just see my own breath?....

Back to the birthday...I was super-pumped for her to be of age. 21, baby! That sure doesn't happen every day! It's not often that we get to celebrate with big pizzas, a cake from the grocery, and endless pitchers of Mtn. Dew. Party hard, kids...party hard.

The Shoes!..are some of my favorites. Follow me from left to right, please.
- These are some of the HIGHEST ones I own...loaning me about 6 inches of tall-ness to my 5'9-ocity. I nabbed em' from a great thrift shop in Palouse...(another oddly-named town around here..) The little inside sole thing says Jacqueline; made in Brasil, yet they were only 5 buckaroooos. [finding them was quickly followed by the happy-happy dance.]

- Groove boots, found in Forever 21. I was torn between these bad boys and a purple tutu...boots won. Tutu - I'll catcha next time. $26

- Ahhhh! My favorite CONVERSE ever! I grew up with these shoes; they've been with me step-by-step since Christmas of my 7th Grade year. (couldn't resist that shoe-pun...). That's 4 1/2 glorious years and lookin' forward to preserving them in pure gold. Obsessed much? Nawww...Priceless.

- The Java, from Payless. Surprisingly, one of the cheapest pairs of lady-Oxfords that I've seen. LOVE them. $24.

- Yeah! Mega-comfort! I found these tan loafers from Old Navy. They've been my go-to shoes for those days that bed slippers would be wonderful, but too weird. Like...anytime I'm in public. These beauties were on sale for $7.99. Whoo!

Ok...I'm going to go grab a cup of 6 pm coffee now...

my seranade to my magazine...

I LOVE that magazine THAT much. Fo' sho'. But when it comes to the deats' inside, my favorite is definitely the 'Factory Girl' section. Nylon staff-member, Dani Stahl, trips around to the factories that are pumping out our latest obsessions...and this one hit pretty close to home. Saddle Shoes. Two simple words...

Pretty shoddy pictures, but I wore saddle shoes eeeevvveryyy ddayy to preschool. (Along with a super-flouncy tutu and some railroad-striped Oshgosh overalls...) But these are better. They're called the Vans Sophie and they completely rock my world. Dani has the only NYLON X pair...but I can dream, can't I?

interesting....and holiday-themed

This post, (originally on OnSugar), came around Halloween. I like to holler: "My alllll time favorite HOLIDAY! Yeah! Excellent!"    Peaches Geldof and I are two of a kind when it comes to lovin' Halloween...:) ....mmmm check that reference in this Octobers's Nylon...and run out to get yourself a copy. It will do you good....

So yeah, I sat down at the sewing machine and was inspired by Halloween. The orange pumpkins, (and Reece's p.b. cup wrappers!), the black of the inky sky, (and black licorice!) the golden of the shining porch-lights...(and Rolos!) Yum. Too bad there's no inspiration from Whoppers...those are my favorite...

Man..what am I going to name this bag?...And will there be one inspired by Thanksgiving? Hmmm..."The Mashed Potato Purse"..or even "The Cranberry Sauce Clutch".....ha. I can see it now on the runway....

*round of applause*...the tigercats are coming...

(VOGUE, Nov. 2009. Cover girls: Nicole, Marion, Penelope, and Kate)

I gotta admit - this was a darn good idea.
One word:....shopping....
and LOTS of it.
FNO = Fashion's Night Out

Basically, it looks like every lady in the city turned out to support the economy and bolster NYC's shopping district with an explosive night of...well..shopping and supporting the economy...Like I said before: genius.
Vogue's website, yo.

Pretty much everything in my life is in pictures right here. Yeahhh...including my favorite Argus camera from my grandpa. ( also where I got the pale, easily-sunburned skin...thanks! gosh pshhh. :]) My favorite pair of Betsey Johnson earrings..that girl's a genius...pure genius. Plus my favorite guy, Nick...most often called Knickerbocker or Pickle. So if I use these (purposly) un-cutesy names, you know who I'm going on about. Then there's always me' stuffed cow. *Gasp! Maybe that's the reason I'm vegetarian...I've had him for as long as I can remember...Dimebag, after the metal-god of course. (Google Dimebag, those who arn't with the claaasssicccsss!) :) Not snobbery, just emphasis. AND moving on, my 12 strang' guitar; the closest I ever got to a moose; and the first shirt I ever made.

Chloe and Nick on Steptoe Butte...a nice butt shot on the butte...:) hahaa...good thing this is typed..I probably would have just snorted, very uncool.

AHOY! get the u-haul...here comes the pictures, blathering descriptions, cookies, obsessions, shopping extravaganzas, chatter about designers and such..blahhh...:) sounds fun.

(that is ridiculous...)
Yeah - that title is going to be much longer than my actual post...but I'M MOVING! yay yay yay! MOVING! I've done some experimenting with OnSugar, and it's great for making a little blog-village with your fellow fashion-obsessed, (or anything obsessed really, one of my favorites was The Kitchen Guy - crazy enough, not told by the title, is about a guy's adventures in the kitchen. Respect for that, man.)

Anyways...I'm returning to Blogger. Still doin' [our] open door with Nick. But this one's fun, it's like a little retreat into the back of my closet...or even better...having my notebook come to life. Now THAT would be interesting....:)
