sour green apples

Baking, baking, baking. Something just feels right about making something warm and comforting on a rainy day like this.  Washington, my rainy little Evergreen State, is having a terrible summer. More like big fat LACK of summer. (At least on the Eastern side..blech). Yesterday was agreeable and sunny at a good 65 degrees, today is rainy and nearly topping off at 40. Ridiculous. But more pictures to come from yesterday, their on Nick's camera and are positively begging to be uploaded...

But I must also say one more thing - Happy Father's Day! It makes me smile to think that any fathers would actually be reading this - but it must be said. :) I decided to make my Pop a nice apple crisp; warm, melty, buttery, and absolutely swimming in half-and-half...its his favorite.

How did everyone else celebrate their dear ol' dads?

Pre-bake, a peek of a juicy green apple...

Voila! After-bake. The crumbly topping melted in and blended with
a couple shakes of cinnamon.
