Fresh carrots, picked today. One of the best and freshest flavors in the world to me.
For some reason, I feel as though I have a confession to make. This thought really came to me while I was working in the garden today. That truly is what sparked it; that I was actually working in a garden. Most of my posts are all about my adventures in the city, things I've purchased and loooved, things I've sewn myself, things I've enjoyed at resturants and the continual rants about sushi cravings-sushi-sushi. Mmmm..that actually sounds good right now.
But really, I live in a small town. Small being a population lower than 150, (including family pets). I go to a small school. Small being a student body smaller than 80, (and yes, it's a public school...and that count includes grades preschool through senior in high school). I don't live a life anywhere close to that of the photo shoot maven Farrah from Degaine, or the amazing Emily from cupcakes and cashmere, or have the incredible talent for photography like up-and-comer Aurora Vintage. (Gaaahh I d.i.e over her work).
So. That's really all I have to say. This post is dedicated to all those farm girls out there who love fashion, are passionate about fashion, but don't within an hour of a shopping mall, let alone downtown NYC.
This patchy patch of dirty and weeds really is beautiful to me...I love it.
From carrots to carrot-cake cupcakes...they were pretty damn good..mmmm.
i understand where you are coming from so well! i do have to be honest, my town is larger than yours, but it's still tiny and very much in the middle of nowhere. in alabama. :/
ReplyDeletebut those carrots & cupcakes do look delicious. :)
I too grew up in the middle of no where and would read my mom's InSyle every chance I got and would dream of being fabulous. Then I went to college where I was still stuck in a small town in Ohio. THEN I moved to D.C. and I feel like I lead a pretty fabulous life. But, I look back and realize regardless of where I have lived or how much money I had, I always felt good about my outfits and had fun creating them and that's what really matters.

I grew up in a small-ish town, but it was surrounded by large cities, so best of both worlds? Those cupcakes look delish!
