making decisions

I can never completely-totally-absolutely settle on a way to display my jewlery.
But that's ok.
Clutter is nice too. :)

How do you organize your jewels?

LOOOVE you guys and dolls! Follow the blog if you haven't already. :)

back the books

I'm making the trip up to School today; mostly just for a placement test, but also to find my classrooms for next quarter so I'm not blazing around like a complet nitwit upon the first day of REAL school. That whole nitwit thing is just plain uncool. I've done that before. (And actually sat in the wrong classroom for nearly half the class...*ugh.)

The search through my closet led me to thinking about the "college look." Ermm..it should probably be capitalized, seeing as it's a totally common phenomonon among universities. "College Look." There. Good. It's the look that projects, "Yes, I'm up late studying and I just wanna be comfy through my next day of classes." Or, it could also read, "I don't give a shit about my hair right now, finals are NEXT WEEK! Ahh!" I've seen that one too. Well...I've actually said that last one before, I know how that is! :)

The Classic University-Gal Needs: Spotted on campuses nation-wide. Northface Denali Jacket. Ugg Boots, most often in Classic Chestnut. And what I hate...one of the most annoying things I've seen...the Rolly Backpack. We have tiled floors here at the SCC, and the rolling wheels just drive me crazy! tac-tac-tac-tac-tac-tac. All day long. You know what I mean.

The NEW Needs: What could be some chic and comfortable replacements for the classics. Emphasis on the chic, here. Patrick Cox, Hawk bag /$358.
Hello Kitty USB Drive, 8g /$50..expensive..but damn cute.

Please...don't let this be you. :)

waisting the afternoon

Ok...the high-waisted thing is gonna take some practice. Especially when it comes to trying to slip into a pair after eating a bowl of spaghetti...I love spaghetti. mmmmm....

I found these pantaloons along with that blue checked dress; such treasures in the back of a dirty cardboard box! But after a good spin through the wash, and a day or two out on the clothes line, these Rockies jeans were like new. (And they were definately stiffff like new jeans. Ouch. Suck it in.)

I can't quite decide how I dig the style. High waisted, or a waste of time? The day was definately toooo hot to coax myself out of that self-made tube top, but the heat also meant a free ticket to treat myself for numerous glasses of iced green tea. I think I may keep these jeans around a while, just to see if I'll ever reach for them in a style rut.

Wearing: Black tube top/Self made, cut from an old workout shirt. High waisted jeans/Rockies. Necklace/Forever21. Ring/F21. Head scarf/Random piece of scrap fabric.

discoverie

Surprise surprise! I LOVE finding and re-discovering clothes, whether it be on a weird rack in a cool thrift shop or even just lost in the deep dark other-worldly realm of my walk-in. This time, I think I've hit the jackpot.

I was digging and walloping around in my small garage for something to sell in the yardsale, when I came upon this stack of old cardboard boxes. A little sweater sleeve caught my eye...I was intrigued...

Enough of this suspenseful nonsense...I FOUND CLOTHES! :) My mum, or even my Auntie must have stashed a ton of high-waisted jeans, little kiddie pairs of leggings, turtlenecks, and an unrelentless stack of chunky knits. And I'm not talkin' grody, gag-me knits, like...Marc knits before he hit the shining lights....very rad.

This dress is a child's size, but I LOVE it! I fell in love with the flower trimming around the neck, the cute sleeves, the pearly buttons, the stickey-outey pockets, everything, the moment I laid eyes on it....sigh..I'm going to clean the garage more often, hoping more clothes will appear.

Wearing: Dress/Amy Too!. Belt/Found alongside some crazy-purple dress in the same boxie box. Bag/Thrift shop, The Open Eye.  Shoes/Predictions. Heart earrings/Dear x Amanda Bynes.

owner of a yard sale

More simple summer clothes...

I had my first yardsale today - complete with old skirts, sweaters, boxes of books, and even the stash of my old baby toys. :)  Ever had a yard sale, or a garage sale? I definitely tried to space the tables randoms and racks of clothes with the touch of a curator, or even the mind of a boutique-owner...but I think I could use more practice in that field. Don't get me wrong, I LOOOVE being a librarian for the summer, but something in the retail field would be nice. Next year....maybe next year.

Oh yeah...we made $7. 38 in almost six hours. :)
And played frisbee...a lot of frisbee.

Wearing: Straw hat. Grey shorts/Spacegirls, (used to be slacks...). Purple tank/Target. Necklace/MK and Ashley x Claire's.  Shoes/Old Navy flip flops. Bag/Alloy. Scarf/Vintage.

[trying it on,,,] statement-makers

Am trying to 'summerize' my wardrobe one day at a time. a)Stashing dark and bulky sweaters in drawers. b)Wintry boots find their seasonal home in plastic bins. c)Going through all my jewlery and accessories for editing and future shopping.

In the midst of all this organization and positive energy I'm emitting to the world by coming to peace with my cramped closet, I find a zillion necklaces!? Since WHEN have I been a "necklace girl"? I was fully convinced that my collection of neck-jewels was slim. Wrong. Answer.

I need to start integrating some of these fab necklaces into my wardrobe. Any hints? Any tips when it comes to embracing my necklace-y side? :)

magical myster tour

Simple simple. Nothing feels better than cutting a shirt to fit your needs, (and actually having it turn out right...), and discovering an outfit that has the ability to work come fall...

This Beatles shirt was incredibly....and I mean incredibly, amazingly, and awesomely, soft. One of those vintage ones, you know what I mean? The fact that I felt like I was being strangled by a shrunken neck seam was the only problem. And THAT is extremely unpleasent, lemme' tell ya.  So! Today, in a hurried fashion, I just took a pair of those tiny Crayola scissors and gashed off the arms and the neckline. BAM - got myself a new tank top.

And yes, I have real scissors. I just use these for random, everyday gashing-cutting-altering of clothes because they cut a cleaner line. Try it! :) Just kidding...don't try it. I'm in a semi-office supply recession and haven't updated my scissors for a while.

Wearing: Printed skirt/Ross. Denim shirt/Miley x Max Azria. Belt/Thrited. Purse/Thrifted in WALLA WALLA, amazing place! :)  Shoes/Rampage sandals. Tank top/Was once a shirt, Beatles Product.

Anybody checked out The Glamourai lately?  Her add for Forever21 is totally BOMB. Love it! Check it out, pronto.

head turn

Crazy week alert, I repeat, CRAZY week alert! Is it just me, or did this week absolutely fly by? Working in the Library, working out on the Ranch, working on my Royalty junk...everything just seems to be making summer fly by. Scary. For a look at an amazing summer, check out this post at Degaine. <--Easily one of my fave blogs, I've been a follower for quite a while.  She's done Rome, Mercedes Benz Fashion week, sooo many things I can't even describe.  BUT, while I may begin to start drooling slightly at Farah's many fabulous trips and summer activities while I work....in a library....a lot...I still value my summer. I can't believe its moving by so fast!

Today was interesting, in the sense that I did what I've NEVER done before! RADIO! Noo..not the movie or the object itself, but I was ON the radio. As Queen, like I mentioned before, we have a list of activities that we have to do in order to gain points for the competition. Someday, at sometime, I'll be on Pullman KQQQ Radio, talking about the "fabulous fun-friendly entertainment the Palouse Empire Fair has to offer."  Blahh blahh. But it was all good fun. AND I got a new denim button up and an unsweetened green iced tea out of the deal.  AMAZING iced tea. FANTASTIC weather. Not too bad of a day...not too bad at all, (that is, it will be if I can manage to have fun at the midnight swim tonight at the pool without drowning....or freezing to death..either one).....

Wearing: Top/Thrifted. Shorts/chopped Levi's. Belt/Kohl's.

slipping up

So...my new conquest: Chictopia.  Its one of those things that really isn't coming easily to me, I gotta admit. But its fun, and its also a great place to see how women are putting together outfits; using pieces in different and unique ways to create completely original looks. Plus, its also a great way to be exposed if you're trying to be a stylist, photographer, or just an all-around 'stylish person'.
(And lemme' tell ya, there are 'stylish people' GALORE. Inspiration central!)

Here's a post I made recently to enter the TeenVogue Remix contest. Take one piece and use it in three unique ways - three different styles.  I chose this amazing slip I made from that scary 80's prom dress, (and ended up being the TeenVogue 'Outfit of the Day' on March 1st), and styled it in triplicate form.

My first was as a dress, plain and simple. I took a few shots with it hangin' loose, but quickly reached for a classic woven belt to give it some shape.

#2 was a businessy-classy-dancy girl outfit. Forever 21 pencil skirt with contrasting polkas and a strand of Claire's black beads. A touch of red lippy, blue suade wedges and BAM. Loved it.

#3 was more relaxed, something I'd wear for work or for a day at University. Nothing to complicated, just Forever21 skinnies and Steve Madden pumps. (ok....when in class, minus the pumps. I hate CLAAACKING into class when it's abnormally quiet...).  Add a belt above the waist and a simple gold chain and we're ready to go.

Wish me luckie luck. :) And also some luck with Chictopia..its a hard world. Hope everyone had a FAB FAB Monday and Tuesday! Cheers for the week being half over...*almost.

casual summer

Today was an incredible day of lounging around...and making a whomper of a poster. (Really big, on other words...). Casual casual casual dress.  I'm still chugging away on this Royalty Program thang.   Remember, somehow, someway, I won the Pageant at my school.  This sounds so bizarre, calling myself and being introduced into rooms of people as 'Queen'.  Even wearing one of those white satin sashes with my NAME on it: Queen Chloe, Oakesdale Royalty...ha. This is very much NOT what I visioned
my summer would include.   :)

We have lots of random activities to do as community 'Queens'; a radio announcement, fair exhibition, (and no, the 'exhibition' doesn't refer to any nudity or streaking....not yet anyways), and making huuuge posters to be displayed in the exhibit barns.    We also have to sell billions of these wristbands to the fair, tons and tons of them! My community is incredibly small, so I'm seeking alllll the help I can get.

If anyone is interested in a $5 or $15 wristband to help the cause, email me, chloerambo@hotmail.com, and things will be arranged. (I'll cover shipping!) I walked around town hanging many neon-green signs up, complete with my phone number and picture to try to draw some attention to these darn bracelets.  Wish me luck! And sanity....

THANKS for all the amazin' comments...love you people. You rule.
*high-five.

Wearing: Flannel shirt/Blue Asphalt, from wet seal.  Jeans/Chip and Pepper, JC Penny. Pocketed tanks. Tooth necklace/Made myself.  Teal nail polish/Sally Hansen Insta-Dri.

my favorite phrase

I am COMPLETELY in love with the super-retro styles at
Urban Outfitters...*sigh...so beutiful, so summery, so...just...super-cool.

Everyone knows about my not-so-secret obsession. I'm a magazine collector...yet magazine-obsessed is more like it. I recieved the August 2010 Seventeen magazine last night, and BAM, all of a sudden I'm super-excited to begin forming my fall wardrobe. Finding new styles, getting great inspiration for cozy layering, AND boots boots boots.  Summer has been amazing, yet I always see it as a time to relax and do some serious planning for the following year.

But for now, I'm all about super-clean, super-retro looks that scream summer.

*holy cow...super super super. :)
